All of these were discussed in the Zoom meeting.
Use this to breakdown and analyze your precedent(s).

If you need help with this worksheet I've provided an example using the Lukumi Babalu Aye animal sacrifice case.

We talked about the brief on our zoom meeting. Here is the example:

All of the examples are located under the Government resources pages pulldown above. Scroll down till you find them under supreme court simulation.
Brief rough draft is due Wednesday the 22nd before our zoom meeting.
I recommend you find a podcast that focuses on your amendment. Let me know if you find any good ones.
Text if you need help and I'll call. Good luck.

Bong Hits For Jesus

Hope you enjoyed the movie Gideon's Trumpet. It’s one you have to endure its “oldness” and let the story grab you. Imagine being on trial, having to defend yourself, losing and going to prison when you were innocent. Fortunately, this innocent man changed the law and the lives of millions. While I watched last night, I ate a rather large bowl of popcorn with seaweed sprinkled over it. Try it!

1. Today I would like you to listen to a podcast. Trust me, there is a bit of a surprise coming (15 minutes of fame and all that). Search Drugs for a Deity WAMU. PLUG IN, GO OUTSIDE AND GET SOME EXERCISE WHILE YOU LISTEN!

2. Tomorrow (Wednesday) we will be holding a Zoom class at our allotted time 2:15-3:15pm. I will send you a link. During that time, we’ll discuss the podcast and do the activity that caused Joe to make the sign that landed him and our school in the Supreme Court!

3. The Joe Frederick Bong Hits for Jesus Lesson 1 is under the government resources page (supreme court simulation). Print it off for tomorrow. If you don’t have a printer I will explain how to make your own during tomorrow’s class. Save the activity for our live class. Don’t do it ahead of time.

Ps Katie McKenna you will be a little surprised by this handout.

Supreme Court Research Step 2

On the government resources page (above) download sc_casenote_brief. There are 2 pages. The first is your assignment. The second is the explanation of how to do your assignment using a fictional case. Print it off if you have that capability and if you don't recreate it in whatever manner works for you. This will bring your research in line with your fictional case and will get you reading the opinions. Prior to the break I showed you how to do it, but if you're struggling refer to the syllabus, or send me a text. This requires that you read both the majority and dissenting opinions. Once you have been able to understand and complete this we can start moving towards a written brief.
